Vernon Theriault has been a champion of workers’ rights for over 20 years.
A published author and Canadian Medal of Bravery recipient, Vernon was an integral part in aiding the United Steelworkers in passing Bill C-45 – otherwise known as the Westray Bill – in 2003.
Vernon is devoted to making Nova Scotia a safer place to work and live. This passion began with his involvement in the local Trenton Works Union 1231 in 1997. He is the recipient of the J. William Lloyd Award for his outstanding service in the cause of worker safety.
Residing in New Glasgow, Vernon is a proud father, grandfather and community member who loves spending time with his grandchildren. In 1981 he created the Nova Hockey League, a gentlemen’s league for players who wanted to continue playing after Junior.
